From the North
Find and get onto the M40! At J9, go RIGHT (South-West) onto A34, This will take you past Oxford. Stay on A34, going under the M4 and past Newbury until it meets the M3, this is a long stretch but there are service stations dotted along the road, and it’s all duel carriage way. At M3 J9, bear RIGHT (South) onto M3 the third exit.
At M3 J14, bear RIGHT (East) onto M27. Just follow the signs for Portsmouth (& Southampton Airport) and you will be fine. Continue along the M27 until you come to Junction 11. (Fareham Central).
From the West
Either get onto the A34 or M27 and then follow as above.
From the North & West
Turn off from Junction 11 on the M27, and at the roundabout, take the 1st turning off on the left. At the T-junction (150 yds down the road) take a right turn.
About 2 min's up that road take the first turning on the right (this is on a left bend on the road so be careful of on coming traffic). Follow that road (small and twisty) to another t-junction, and turn left.
Follow that road past, Fort Nelson, Fort Southwick and QinetQ, and at the roundabout take the 2nd exit (going straight) (The view from this road looking right is fantastic at night), Fort Widley should then be on your left! BUT Go past the first entrance before you reach the fort, go past the main body of the fort and then on your left, is the main entrance. If you see the Churchillian pub on your left you have gone too far.
From the East.
Either coming down the A3 or A27, get to the meeting of the A3(M) and A27. Travel along the A27 ignoring the first turn-off for Portsmouth/Southsea on the left and taking the next turn off on the left for Cosham. Go right at the roundabout taking the 4th and last exit for Cosham (not the Fareham exit). Go along this road going straight over the next two roundabouts. A double set of traffic lights will now be in front of you and turn left here (QA Hospital). Go along this road and up the hill until you reach a roundabout, take the 3rd exit (right) and you will come to Fort Widley on your left, BUT Go past the first entrance before you reach the fort, go past the main body of the fort and then on your left, is the main entrance. If you see the Churchillian pub on your left you have gone too far.
